Leadership Genko

Helen Keller, who had all the reasons in the world to lack a positive outlook, once said, “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.”

Lions, every instance of our service is a shining moment of optimism and faith. We believe we can uplift lives and improve our communities. Indeed, that’s what Lions have done for 93 years. Read More...

7 Great Lessons You Can Learn from Helen Keller

Spring ConferenceHelen Keller was an amazing woman. She was blind, deaf, and dumb, yet that didn't stop her from achieving her dreams. Helen was not a person who made excuses, she made things happen. She is a constant reminder that anything is possible.

Despite her circumstances, Helen Keller became a world famous author, activist, and speaker. One of her many accomplishments includes being the first deaf-blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. I believe we can learn a lot from Helen. Read More...

Celebrate Membership

Spring Conference

According to Lions Clubs International, strengthening membership is important for both new and long-term Lions alike. For new Lions, it's about getting acquainted with a new service organization. For long-term Lions, it's about getting back to the basics.

Member Orientation provides new members with the information they need to get started as a Lion. It also serves as a refresher for existing Lions, with information on Lion history, structure, its purpose and ethics. The Mentoring Program teams a knowledgeable Lion mentor with a new Lion. The mentor's role is to acquaint the new member with Lions Clubs International, encourage club involvement, develop their leadership skills and offer guidance for holding a club position.

Continue to keep members engaged by incorporating various Membership Retention programs. These programs focus on club cooperation, member morale and enhanced meetings to help get members involved. Celebrate new members by participating in Lions Worldwide Induction Day. This year’s Worldwide Induction Day is Saturday, April 24, 2010. Read More...

Lions Club Community Needs Accessment
Because Lions help where help is needed

Once a year, your Lions Club should assess the programs and services you provide to your local community. Through a simple assessment, you will be able to understand:

  • What kinds of volunteer services your community needs.
  • Which projects and programs are important to the people in your area.
  • Whether your clubs’ current service projects are still needed by the community.
  • If other organizations in your area are providing similar services.

By utilizing the Community Needs Accessment Form your Lions Club will be able to better serve your community. Your Lions Club might even consider the Lions Services for Children Community Needs Accessment.

Both forms are available from Lions Clubs International by clicking the links below.
