
District Governor Sheldon E. "Shel" Reichard
Lion Sheldon E. “Shel” Reichard was elected District 35-O District Governor at the Multiple District 35 Convention held in Tampa, Fl. Apr. 30 - May 2, 2009.
DG Shel has been a member of the Palm Coast Lions Club since 1988. He has served as club president, chaired major club committees, club liaison in formation of branch club, club liaison in formation of Leo Club, developed club’s operating procedures manual and serves as club liaison with the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce. He established the annual Lions Night at the Daytona Cubs Baseball Game for the clubs in his Region.
DG Shel has held many positions within the Association. He has served as Zone Chair, Region Chair 5 times, District Membership Consultant, coordinated Officer Training courses. Drive Director of Youth Exchange Scholarship Trust and Board Trustee for 13 years. He has served as the Executive Secretary/Treasurer of the Trust for 8 years and is currently serving in that position. He has served on the District constitution and by-laws committee and Multiple District long range planning committee. He was a director of the Florida Lions Foundation for the Blind and a delegate to the Conklin Center for the Blind. Gov. Shel is a Certified Guiding Lion.
Gov. Shel, a Melvin Jones Fellow, has received 3 International President’s Certificates of Appreciation, 100% Club President Award, Extension Award and the Membership Key Award. He has received 3 Order of the Golden Chain Awards and 3 Anchor Awards. He is a Florida Lions Camp Mel Carver Fellow, Florida Foundation for the Blind Grand Lion, Conklin Center for the Blind Life Member, and a Florida Lions Camp Life Member.
DG Shel has attended several Lions International conventions and USA/Canada Leadership Forums. As a participant and instructor, he has attended numerous Multiple District and District trainings in membership, extension, retention and leadership.
DG Shel is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a BBA in Industrial Management. He served in the US Army and was discharged as a Captain. His career has been in Human Resources and Industrial Security at General Electric Co. and Consolidated Edison of N.Y.
Governor Shel is married to Lion Carol. They have 6 children and 7 grandchildren.
